Excerpts taken from the Jonathan Tarr Foundation website,

"Serving Country, Community and Family. God Bless America"

Like every human spirit, we have a passion and desire that must be found.  We embrace the lives around us and strive to be leaders as our parents have led us.  We have innate sense to help others in need and we all have hearts of service, lend a helping hand, and the ability to build dreams and establish purpose.  This young couple promotes fundraising efforts in memory of their triplets, Emilio, Mateo and Lorenzo who died in infancy.  Three low income projects in the Philippines have been completed in the memory of the babies.  Marlon and Brandi are very proud of their handsome active 16 month old son, Presley, name after Marlon’s favorite entertainer, Elvis Presley.

Marlon is an eight-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served our country in combat during Operation Desert Storm.  He earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix with an emphasis in Technology Management and is currently with Hewlett Packard Company.  In giving back to the community, Marlon has served on the Mira Mesa Town Council and the Mira Mesa Planning Group.

Brandi is a 4th generation Mexican-American with a deep love and pride for her culture and extended family.  She received her Bachelors of Science Nursing Degree from the University of Phoenix and is currently a Registered Nurse in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Sharp Grossmont Hosptal in La Mesa.  She is passionate about her work with the Repoductive Partners of UCSD Rigional Fertility Center in La Jolla, CA.

Marlon and Brandi Austria learned abouth the mission and generous contribution of Encinitas based, Jonthanan Tarr Foundation in 2012 after an introduction to Ms. Robin Tarr. They were instantaneously captivated byt the initiatives of JTF and how one scholarship can drive and change the future of a student recipient and still commemorate one’s life.  The connection with Robin Tarr and the Austria’s was no coincidence once their stories were exchanged.  When Marlon And Brandi attended the JTF Class of 2013 Scholarship Awards in May to meets students, teachers, families and elected officicals, they immediately wanted to hold hands with Jonathan Tarr Foundation.

Year 2:

Eugene Amano - GK Village

On March 1, 2013, Brandi and Marlon received a phone call from a good friend of theirs, Eugene Amano. Eugene is the only full-blooded Filipino playing in the NFL. They met Eugene in 2009 at a Gawad Kalinga (GK) Summit in Boston, MA. Since their initial meeting, they became friends and kept in touch via Facebook and GK. Eugene has done very well for himself and is a role model to many Filipinos and Filipino Americans.

Eugene called them because he had just recently returned from the Philippines and was planning to build a GK Village in honor of his grand parents. GK is a Philippine based anti-poverty and nation building movement. GK actively works in poverty-stricken areas, by first, befriending the poor and teaching them how to love God and Country. Secondly, GK encourages them to literally rebuild their houses and their resources with the aim of becoming self-sufficient. GK promotes "land for the landless, homes for the homeless, and food for the hungry".

During their call, Eugene was so excited about GK and wanted to move forward with building his GK Village. Eugene stated that he initially wanted to name three homes in honor of the Austria Triplets. But after thinking it over, he stated that he wanted to do something more. With that being said, he told Brandi and Marlon that he was going to name the Community Center of his GK Village after the Austria Triplets.

Once Brandi and Marlon heard the news, they started crying. They thanked Eugene for being a good friend, a great human being and such a generous person!

Year 1:

GK Hope Ball 2011

The Philippine GK Hope Ball was the celebration of a campaign where Gawad Kalinga hoped to provide homes to at least 150 families in Bagong Silang, Philippines.

The GK Hope Ball was held in Las Vegas, NV on April 30, 2011.  The goal was to build 150 homes for our brothers and sisters in the Philippines. Ultimately, this event established a legacy of hope and a sense of harmony that will translate into valuable support on the ground for the poor of the Philippines.

With the help of our family and friends, in the name of the Austria Triplets, Marlon & Brandi were able to raise enough funds to build 3 homes.  Each home costs approximately $2500.

This was such an emotional event for everyone involved due to the fact that the Austria Triplets had just passed a few weeks before the event. Marlon & Brandi would like to thank all of their friends and family for their assistance in this cause, especially the God Parents of the Austria Triplets:

God Parents:  Joseph Oyos and Olivia Austria

Emilio's God Parents:  Eric Elegado, Gerry Guevarra, Tina Balch and Evelyn Dimapilis

Mateo's God Parents:  Joseph Malabanan, Ariel Manalo, Sylvia Pallares and Aileen Elegado Catapusan

Lorezno's God Parents:  Tony Olaes, Robert Fabricante, Emily Garcia and Dominga Bustos
